Young Love

Sloane has a new crush... A boy named Casper who is in her preschool class.   I packed one yellow jelly bean in her lunch on Tuesday.  During the car ride home, she tells me that Casper was at her lunch table and that he has never had a yellow jelly bean so she REALLY wants to bring him one on Thursday.  Although I thought this was really sweet, I told her that it was not fair to bring a jelly bean to one friend, we would have to bring them for everyone and I was not sure how the other parents would feel about us giving candy to everyone.   Sloane absolutely lost it the car and was crying, "But Casper needs a yellow jelly bean!".  I decided to end the conversation and hoped she would forget about by Thursday morning.   I was wrong... Same tear-fest Thursday morning when I told her it wasn't fair to bring a jelly bean just for Casper.   I finally gave in (did not want to deal with tears at 7:30am) and packed two yellow jelly beans in her lunch, figuring I would let her teachers deal with it.   When I picked Sloane up after lunch, both of her teachers were practically jumping up and down, wishing they would of recorded what happened.   The conversation when something like this....

Sloane:  Casper, I have something for you.
Casper:  What?
Sloane:  It's a yellow jelly bean.
Casper:  Really?! Hmmmm.... I don't know what my mom would say.
Sloane:  It's okay, it can be our secret.
Casper:  (Silence.... Looking around, not sure what to do)
**Ms. Brittany was worried that Sloane would be so sad if he rejected her gift that she ran over to their table and told him it was okay :) **
Casper:  Wow!! (Chewed it, then showed Sloane the half chewed jelly bean in his mouth.)

Sloane was blushing and giggling the entire car ride home and kept telling me how silly Casper was for showing her the jelly bean after he chewed it. 

Who is my child?!?  Telling boys that things can be secrets!!!  I am SO worried for high school......
