Three and a half

Dear Sloane,

Today you are officially 3 ½ years old!  You are so full of energy and craziness, some days I don’t know what to do with you.   The last few months have been very exciting because I am pregnant with a baby boy, and you are SO excited to be a big sister.  You were at the ultrasound when we found out the baby was boy and you started screaming and yelling, “I knew it! I was right!”.   You kiss and hug my belly all the time and you like to compare the size of your belly to the size of my belly.  You talk about cuddling with your baby brother in the middle of night when he cries so I don’t have to get up.  You have such a sweet heart.  I hope you are still this excited once he arrives and life gets even crazier for us.

Preschool was been going very well the last six months!  You love telling me about your day and showing daddy your work when he comes home in the evenings.   There was a movie night pajama party at school last week and you asked to go!  I did not think you would be interested in going to school on a Friday night by yourself, but it is all you talked about all week.    Daddy and I dropped you off and went on a date.  You were super happy when we picked you up and your teachers said you have a wonderful time making pasta and watching the movie.  You are becoming so independent!

The holidays this year were so much fun - Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas – You loved everything about them.   On Halloween, you ran from house to house and didn’t care that Daddy and I were far behind you.   You loved being with family on Thanksgiving and Christmas, especially your favorite dog – Goose.  For Christmas, Aunt Kelly and Uncle Justin gave you a space shuttle.  Your favorite part of the shuttle is a lunar rover that you have named Keisha.  I have no idea how you came up with this, but you LOVE Keisha.  You talk to her all the time and drag her around the house.

You love to organize things.  You will play with blocks, hair ties, bobby pins, crayons, etc. and organize them over and over again.  I think you might be a little OCD, but at least you can stay focused on an activity for a long period of time.    You love building castles with daddy and helping him wash his car.  In fact, you love doing just about anything with daddy these days.  You are becoming a daddy’s girl, preferring him on the weekends over me.   Weekend mornings are your favorite because daddy is home when you wake up.

Every day after nap I make you play outside, even if it is only for 15 minutes.  Some days I have the bribe you to take a loop around the block on your tricycle or scooter.  However, once you are outside, we run into some of your neighborhood friends and play at the park until it is time to make dinner.  You are very good at riding your bike and learned how to ride your scooter very quickly.  You go so fast that I can barely keep up with you.  Daddy will ride his skateboard while you scoot on the weekends.

By the time you turn four, our little family of three will be a family of four.  I know you are going to be the best big sister and a wonderful helper to me.   You ask me to tell you the story of when you were born every night before bed.  And you confirm that Mema and G-Pa will watch you when I go to the hospital to have the baby.

I love you so much!
XOXO,
Mommy
